Auckland On Water Boat Show

Thousands of Kiwi boating, fishing and water sport enthusiasts are set to visit next week’s Auckland On Water Boat Show where they can seek expert advice and check out the hundreds of new boats and marine-related products on display.

The 24 to 27 September running of New Zealand’s largest on-water boat show sees Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour transformed into a giant showroom for tens of millions of dollars’ worth of yachts, launches, trailer boats, kayaks, paddleboards, jetskis, marine electronics, safety equipment, engines, specialist marine paints and pretty much anything you can think of that relates to water-based recreational activities.

“The Auckland On Water Boat Show is understandably renowned for the extensive array of large vessels accessible for all show visitors via the purpose-built, temporary marina alongside the Viaduct Events Centre,” says Michelle Khan, Auckland On Water Boat Show CEO. “And with more than 80 large sailing yachts, imported and New Zealand-built motor launches, and large trailerable inflatable and alloy boats on display this year, show visitors have an incredible variety of vessels to explore and talk to the builders, designers and owners about.

What really sets the Auckland On Water Boat Show apart at this time of year when many Kiwis are planning their boating and on-water adventures this summer, is the opportunity to talk with our passionate, knowledgeable and approachable exhibitors about a huge variety of marine-related products and services,” Ms Khan says.

One product being displayed for the first time that’s attracted a lot of attention on the show’s Facebook page is the ‘Hook and Moor’ boat hook bought into New Zealand by Tenob Wholesale Marine. This integrated hook-and-line boat hook enables the user to thread a mooring rope through a mooring ring with a simple pull or push, at the same time bringing the mooring rope back onto the boat in one, easy motion.

Making sure you have the right safety equipment for all crew participating in your on-water adventures is a good topic to discuss with the knowledgeable team from RFD New Zealand, the longest-running safety and survival business in the country.

“Life rafts, lifejackets, flares, safety lights and strobes; these and other well-known marine safety items are available at the show from the world’s best brands like RFD, Hutchwilco, Ocean Safety, Baltic, KRU and Jon Buoy,” says Ms Khan.

“And if you don’t know where to start when it comes to buying the right lifejacket for you or your crew, that’s an even better reason to head along to the show where all our expert exhibitors can talk you through what’s best for your situation and budget.”

Those looking for information and advice for their boat refurbishment project will be well-served by a range of suppliers happy to talk about generators, pumps, hoses, anchors, sails, decking, fridges, freezers and toilets, as well as paints, surface preparation materials and sealants.

“If you want to talk engines, inboard or outboard, you’ll be in the right place! Come and see the latest petrol and diesel models from Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo, FNM, FPT, Doosan, MTU Detroit Diesel, MAN, Yanmar, Evinrude, Scania and Cummins. There’s even a motorised kayak on the dedicated fishing floor on level three of the Viaduct Events Centre.

Of course, hundreds of trailer boats take pride of place outside the Viaduct Events Centre and show pavilions with many of New Zealand’s best known brands, including Tristram, Rayglass, Surtees, Stabicraft, Southern Boats, Lazercraft, Fish City, Profile and Haines Hunter, showing their latest and most popular models.

“If the latest electronics or fish finders are more your thing, check out the Furuno TZ Touch 2 with a built-in, dual-frequency fish finder from ENL, as well as the latest technology from Raymarine from Lusty and Blundell, GME, Garmin from Nav Station, and BEP’s Mastervolt,” says Ms Khan.

“Whether you’re into sailing, cruising, fishing, offshore expeditions or paddling around in a dinghy, you’ll find plenty to see and do at this year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.”
