The Family Holiday Association raised £33,300 at a charity sailing event yesterday.

A total of 19 teams, including one from TTG, race yachts in the Solent for the charity which helps out struggling families with a holiday. In 2014, 2,800 families benefited from one from the charity.

The money raised was nearly double the £19,600 raised last year and shows the growing success of the event which was organised by the Tui Group’s sailing brand Sunsail.

Peter Long, president of the Family Holiday Association and chief executive of Tui Group, said: “All the money raised at this event will help struggling families across the country to have a much deserved break away from home.

“We all understand the importance of time together, as a family, away from the stresses of everyday life.Family Holiday Association sailing even

“I am delighted that we have had such tremendous support from everyone and I would like to thank all who took part for helping make a difference.”

John McDonald, Family Holiday Association charity director, added: “It was brilliant to see so many teams taking part at our charity event this year.Family Holiday Association sailing even

“Without the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, an event of this size would not have been possible.

“It was a great day and the funds raised will really help us to make a significant difference to the lives of over 3,000 families in the UK this year.”
