Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’
cruise ship Boudicca has limped into the Canary Islands at eight knots after suffering an engine room fire over the weekend off Morocco, whilst on an 18-night Cape Verde and the Canaries cruise.
The ship developed a list and drifted for five hours before the crew extinguished the fire.
The company said: “All services on board have resumed as normal. There were no injuries to any of Boudicca’s 784 guests and 356 crew members, and the ship’s master confirmed that at no point were guests asked to don their lifejackets and gather at the muster stations, as the situation was contained.”
Boudicca is expected to make two cruise calls here this year in April and October.
Last year the ship made headline news when Fred Olsen compensated 130 passengers who contracted gastric illnesses onboard.
