Hobie 16 Worlds

Hobie® 16 World Championship 2016 – Eleven races have now been completed in the Masters division of the 21st Hobie® 16 World Championships in Dapeng, China and today would have to be the best day on the water so far in the regatta.

The skies were blue and the weather was hot as we entered the region’s summer season, but keeping up your fluids and slapping on the sunscreen made for quite a pleasant day in what would have to be a perfect day in southern China. Today’s penultimate day of the Masters division was superb with single and double string runs and four solid races in a variety of conditions. For the most part racing was very close with places in the top ten regularly shifting positions at the end of each leg.

Rod and Kerry Waterhouse from Australia are still leading the world championships, with William and Lucinda Edwards from South Africa sitting in second place and Mick and Patrick Butler from Australia moving up to third position with a couple of well fought wins today.

There are still a number of contenders at the top of the leader board with one day of racing to go but teams that are not in contention are still enthusiastic about their racing and having a great championship both on and off the water.

Day four in the Masters’ series tomorrow will decide who is the 2016 Masters Champion of the World, we can’t wait for the action.
