Tracy Edwards MBE confirms Maiden entry in the Lonely Rock Race 2020

Since her recent full refit, Maiden has been back on the start line of events such as the Caribbean 600 to raise funds for The Maiden Factor Foundation, but due to COVID the world tour has unfortunately been put on hold and ‘Maiden’ was shipped back to Southampton. Now we are hoping that the Lonely Rock Race will be the restart for this iconic yacht and her inspirational team to get things going again.

Tracy Edwards said, “We are thrilled that Maiden has been invited to take part in the Lonely Rock Race, we think that bringing the original race back to its roots is an outstanding idea! Obviously, Maiden’s participation will be dependent upon it being safe to do so and the current situation having changed significantly. We are currently in the process of fundraising and hope to be in a position to compete and to support the Royal Western Yacht Club in the promotion of this prestigious event. Thank you! Tracy.”

Commodore of the RWYC, Chris Arscott said “We are delighted to welcome Tracy Edwards MBE and the team of ‘Maiden’ to the Lonely Rock Race. We are really pleased to see such an iconic yacht take interest in this race and understanding our reasons for running it. As a former Whitbread Round the World Race competitor, it will be a fantastic sight to see ‘Maiden’ lining up alongside the 2 generations of Volvo Ocean Race boats also competing in this historic race.”
