2016 Melges 20 Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series – The second day of the fifth and final Act for the Melges 20 in the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series saw a repeat of yesterday with a steady eight-knot south-westerly breeze, flat sea and plenty of sunshine.
Conditions that enabled the Race Committee to complete three races for the 25 Melges 20s, all champing at the bit as evidenced by several general recalls and some combative roundings of the marks.
Consistency continues to pay dividends in this series, Richard Davies (Section 16) being a perfect example. Having finished in the top six in all six races over the last two days, he retains his position at the top of the leader-board in the provisional ranking, with Igor Rytov (Russian Bogatyrs) in second and title holder, Guido Miani assisted by Philippe Pizzichini (Out of Reach) in third.
There’s everything to play for when competitors return to the fray on Sunday for the last day of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series season 2015/2016.
