New superyachts Solar by Oceanco 105m
The largest sailing yacht ever to be built in the Netherlands, she’s called Solar. This awe-inspiring DynaRig sailing yacht will be the most revolutionary vessel ever built and features a unique array of green technologies highlighted by the ability to operate entirely on solar power.
Accommodating 12 guests in six staterooms, delivery is scheduled for early 2016.
Top two photos taken by Peter Nieuwstraten. Project Solar or Y712 is designed by Nuvolari Lenard and will
megayacht ever built in Holland. At the moment there are two large sailing yachts inside the Alblasserdam
shed: 85m (279 ft) Y711, and this new Y712. When the new drydock is completed in late 2014, the casco
of 110m (361 ft) motoryacht project Y714 will be the third yacht under construction at the yard.
Once the masts are stepped, on both Y711 and Y712, they cannot return to the Oceanco yard because of
the bridges between Alblasserdam and the North Sea. Mast stepping will probably take place somewhere
Also it will be interesting to see how Nuvolari Lenard have solved integrating the radars and sat com
domes into the overall design. On Maltese Falcon there is quite a large mast near the bow with all that
equipment. Y712 or “project Solar” will probably be launched late 2015 and delivered spring 2016
