Noble Marine Supernova Travellers Series

Nottinghamshire’s Girton Sailing Club hosted the first event of the year for the Noble Marine Supernova Travellers Series.

The meeting was well attended by 17 competitors travelling a good few hours, from as far as Worcester, Milton Keynes, and Newport Pagnell.

Light NE winds greeted the sailors for the first race giving the day a patchy start and caused the committee to shorten the course by one lap enabling a prompt lunch ahead of strengthening winds for the afternoon races.

Swarkestone SC’s Tim Hand in his new boat led from the start and finished comfortably ahead of the rest of the fleet, with host club member Tony Bleasdale finishing second in a Mk1 and Hunts SC’s Jon Pebody taking 3rd place.

The wind did increase but Hand kept up his dominance in the 2nd and 3rd races again leaving the fleet well behind, the chasing pack competed closely for the runners up places with strong challenges coming from Mark Meadows, Tony Bleasedale, Jon Pebody and Nick Whiles.

The ladies battled well in the middle of the mix with current ladies national champion Serena Stewardson coming out on top. Joanne Daubney and Amie King both of Girton SC taking 2nd and 3rd overall.

Overall Results:

1st T.Hand (Swarkestone SC)
2nd T.Bleasdale (Girton SC)
3rd Mark Meadows (Burton SC)

Mk1 Winner T. Bleasdale (Girton SC)

Ladies Event
