America’s Cup – Oracle Team USA flying high in San Francisco
While the New Zealand media and public agonise over issues within Team New Zealand, their nemesis of 2013, Oracle Team USA, are enjoying a final hit-out on San Francisco bay, before leaving their base in Pier 80.
The US team expects to be sailing in Bermuda in April/May 2015.
Currently they are sailing in two foiling classes – a development AC45, which is classified as one of their four allowed surrogate boats under the Protocol governing the 35th America’s Cup.
The other class being sailed is the Phantom – also a foiler, but sufficiently small to be not counted as a surrogate under the Protocol.
