The Springtime Eurocup got under way at Fraglia Vela Riva this week in this classic event for the Yngling class. Five nations were represented by the “old favourites “ of the class, who never miss this Spring date on Lake Garda, Trentino.
Winners ,and leaders from the first day, were the Dutch crew skippered by Jamin Maarten with Jaap, the other Maarten and Smit on board. With four firsts, a sixth and a third they were able to outdo fairly easily the Slovenian crew of Antocic-Strakh-Nevecny, second in the standings and winners of regatta five.
The Austrians, with Joerg Moser at the helm just made it to reach the podium with the sixth and last race just one point ahead of Norwegians Hol Svein-Bruvik Fabian and Kristoffer.
The technical staff of Fraglia Vela Riva made the right decision in scheduling most of the races on the first two days in the afternoon, whereas on Saturday (the last day of the event), racing started at 10 with the same south wind that they had raced in on the previous days.
The next international event at Fraglia Vela Riva is in the second week of May with Garda Trentino Olympic Week. This event brings together the Olympic classes. The only event of its kind in Italy.
