Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Yas Marina in top gear for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Yas Marina welcomed 25 per cent more yachts for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last weekend. With a total of 247 yachts from all over the world descending on Yas Marina for the busiest race weekend to date, the marina experienced a sell-out weekend with record numbers of guests and yachts.

Yas Marina for the Abu Dhabi“The smallest boat in the marina was 6m and the largest was 90m, totaling a whopping 4,770m LOA for all the boats in the marina,” boasts Cedric Le Rest, Yas Marina’s general manager. “Race Week is our biggest and busiest week of the year, and this year was the most successful one yet, attracting huge numbers of both guests and yachts since the event’s inception in 2009. The atmosphere is always electric with yachts arriving from across the region and internationally.”

Explaining the importance of the event for the marina, Le Rest added that the number of visiting yachts more than met expectations. “Established, high calibre events such as the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix are extremely valuable to Yas Marina as the weekend draws in a hugely influential crowd,” he says. “Approximately 16,000 revelers soaked up the vibrant atmosphere around the marina this year, bringing the community together and making the destination the place to see and be seen at the biggest social and sporting event of the year. Following Formula 1, we always receive further interest in our annual membership packages.”

Yas Marina, operated and managed by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, is regarded as one of Abu Dhabi’s finest marinas. Situated on Yas Island, it is established as the premier destination in the Middle East for yachts, having received the “Best Marina” accolade Yas Marina for the Abu Dhabifrom both The World of Yachts Recognition Awards and The Arabian Gulf Yachting Awards in 2010.

The 221 berth marina caters for yachts from 8 metres up to 150m in size and gives visitors access to pristine coastlines, uninhabited islands and the nearby cosmopolitan cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai whilst offering the services and facilities you would expect from a world class marina.

With a dedicated on site management team, attractive shore-side destination, some of the lowest priced utilities in the world and flexible berthing options for yachts of all sizes, Yas Marina offers attractive packages for visiting yachts as well as competitively priced annual tariffs which include a berth during the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.
