49th BVI Spring Regatta

The 49th BVI Spring Regatta is set for March 28- April 3, and many of sailors from around the world are looking to come back to the British Virgin Island and race.

For those who don’t own their own boat, there is a wide selection of race boats to charter depending on what crews are looking for.

The Moorings and Sunsail, long-time sponsors of the regatta, have a number of monohulls and catamarans to choose from. Based in the BVI, they are one of the world’s largest charter companies.

“The Moorings has been a longstanding sponsor of the BVI Spring Regatta, which is an event near and dear to our hearts. As we look ahead to 2022, it is more exciting than ever to be able to enjoy a flagship event such as this in the BVI’s once again after the difficulties of the past two years. The Moorings is proud, and grateful to have the opportunity to sponsor the BVI Spring Regatta in 2022.”, said Ian Pedersen, Sr. Marketing Manager for The Moorings and Sunsail.

“I invite guests to reach out to The Moorings or Sunsail Yacht Charters if they are interested in chartering a race boat or as a spectator yacht for the 2022 event.” he offered.

The CSA Bareboat fleet will comprise about 25 to 30 racing monohulls ranging from 30 to 65 feet. The beauty of these boat is it’s your race excitement during the day and your accommodations at night. Most have two to three sleeping berths along with a fully equipped galley.

High performance yachts can also be chartered with high end race equipment and spinnakers. Companies are designed to charter a full crew, or some offer a “pay to play” alternative, basically chartering your position on the boat. The options are available for listed on the Charter Option page on the BVI Spring Regatta website.

The BVI Regatta committee is focused on offering world class racing. All participants will have to comply with guidelines that are set by the BVI Government and the Event Organizers. These guidelines are found on the BVI Government site as well as the BVI Spring Regatta Covid Update link. Social distancing and proper sanitization will be implemented. Group contact will be limited. We understand the importance of implementing quality measures to ensure the safety of participants and visitors. Racing safely is our main priority.

The 49th BVI Spring Regatta will be held at Nanny Cay Resort and Marina on March 28- April 3, 2022 and has opportunities for multiple classes to race as well as companies to sponsor the 2022 BVI Spring Regatta.
