In what is the first of many international 5O5 open events around the world in the coming year, the 2020 505 Australian Open Championship will take place January 16-21, 2020.
Melbourne is known for its great restaurants and trendy coffee scene as well as the beautiful beaches and fantastic sailing conditions found Australia wide. Brighton Yacht Club is also hosting the annual Sail Melbourne Olympic classes regatta so it promises to be a busy and high-level event with many of the world’s best sailors competing.
The 5O5 competition will be fierce and includes the multiple world champions Mike Holt and Rob Woelfel traveling across from the USA. “With an exciting season of racing all around the world coming up, the Australian Championship is a great way of escaping from our northern winter and getting great racing against the highly competitive Australian fleet”
“Its great to see overseas boats attending the Australian Nationals” said International President Michael Quirk (AUS). “Many of the Australians will also travel to Europe for other country’s open events, the Euro Cup series held across France, Italy, Germany and the UK and culminating in the World Championship in Torekov Sweden.”
