Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2021

After the success of the 2020 edition, the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez lifts the veil on the format for the mythical get-together of the most beautiful boats in the world that will take place over two weeks – from Saturday, September 25 to Saturday, October 9 – with a revamped format.

All classic boats will race the first week from September 25, at the same time as the modern boats measuring up to and around 20 meters. The second week, from Sunday, October 3, being exclusively devoted to the larger modern boats, which will also have the benefit of an additional day of racing.

The two-week format, re-handled

By increasing the number of days of the Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the organizers affirm their intention to optimize the reception conditions for the entire fleet. For the first week, open to all classic boats and modern boats up to and around 20 meters (depending on the class) the program remains unchanged with racing starting for the modern classes from Monday, September 27 and joined by the classics from Tuesday 28. The separation of the larger modern boats allows all race starts to be held in front of Saint-Tropez village. The larger modern yachts will be present in the port and the gulf of Saint-Tropez from Sunday 3 to Saturday 9 October, with – and this is a novelty of this edition – an additional day of racing, regattas scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday.

Adapted racecourses, increased flexibility

The new format spread over two weeks gives the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez the opportunity to specifically meet the expectations of the boats, according to their size and potential. But beyond the sporting aspects, the two-week course also makes it possible to manage more effectively the flow of people, participants and spectators. Using experience gained from a successful 2020 edition, in a context particularly tense in view of the global health epidemic, the SNST has shown excellent responsiveness in its implementation of a pro-active sanitary protocol that allowed the validation and holding of the event, despite the numerous cancellations elsewhere.
