SB20 Tasmanian State Championship 2021

The Port Dalrymple Yacht Club (PDYC), at Beauty Point on the Tamar River, with the SB20 Association of Australia, have announced the northern-based architecture, surveying and engineering firm, 6ty degrees, as the naming rights sponsor of the 2021 SB20 State Championship.

“As a pure Tasmanian business, we are excited by the opportunity to partner with the Port Dalrymple Yacht Club and the SB20 Association of Australia, for the first SB20 State Championships to be held in the north of state.

We look forward to seeing the SB20 fleet berthed at the 6ty degrees designed jetty and pontoons at Port Dalrymple Yacht Club,” said Joel Wallace, CEO and Director, of 6ty degrees.

SB20 Australia Class President, Scott Glanville, regards the sponsorship as confirmation of the strong support for the event.

“The SB20 State Championship is certainly gaining momentum. With 6ty degrees on board as a naming rights sponsor and the interest that is brewing in Tasmania and interstate, we are confident of a strong fleet and a fantastic event,” said Glanville.

Entries are open for the event which will be held for the first time in northern Tasmania from 30 to 31 January 2021.

The SB20 will be the first non-dinghy class that the PDYC has hosted since completion of a $300,000 upgrade and extension of the Club’s on-water facilities in 2019, with 120 metres of perimeter berthing space now available which will be ideal for the SB20 wet regatta format.

Re-locating the SB20 State Titles from Hobart to the north for 2021 aligns with the Association’s strategy to broaden interest and engagement with the SB20 Class across Tasmania and interstate. The SB20 is a 20 foot one-design sports boat designed by Tony Castro. The Class has a crew weight limit of 270kg, allowing either three or four crew.
