Race 1 from this year’s regatta, sailed as usual on Sydney Harbour, was a good shake-down race.
Some boats followed the old adage of “you can’t win the regatta in the first race, but you can lose it”, choosing to reef their sails to make it safely through the squally conditions. Others started with the pedal to the metal, fighting for position with some very close crosses.
