Multihull Cup 2024
Multihull Cup 2024 is all set and ready to go
Performance catamaran racing will be back in Mallorcan waters once again when the Multihull Cup 2024 swings into action on Friday 27 September.
With only few days left to go to the start of the sixth edition of the celebration of multihull sailing, crews are making their final preparations ahead of racing off Mallorca’s magnificent southwest coast.
Many eyes will be focused on the growing though friendly rivalry between Adrian Keller’s Irens 78 Allegra and Sir Irvine Laidlaw’s VPLP-custom Highland Fling 18. The two went head-to-head recently at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup with the Swiss-flagged Allegra emerging with bragging rights — a situation the owner and crew of Highland Fling 18 will no doubt be seeking to adjust.
But not to be ignored is the Banuls Design McConaghy-built Dragon, with the 60-ft multihull looking to repeat her Multihull Cup triumph of 2019.
The three days of racing will once again benefit from the warm welcome extended by their Port Adriano host, and the excellent facilities in the exclusive marina.
“There will be plenty of interest in seeing how things play out on the water,” said Multihull Cup Event Director Andrea Grimm. “There are points to be made and, of course, fun and excitement to be enjoyed.”
Ashore, the Coast by East venue in Port Adriano will be at the heart of events, with North Sails and Rigging Projects again providing their long-standing sponsor support.
After registration on Thursday 26 September, racing will begin on Friday and continue until Sunday 29 September, which will also see the celebratory prize-giving ceremony being held.
