Maserati Multi 70 to challenge PowerPlay in a match race for the Channel Record
Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s Team will challenge British MOD 70 PowerPlay, skippered by Ned Collier Wakefield, in a high speed match race during the Cowes to Dinard record attempt.
The two trimarans already raced each other multiple times in the past few years and they decided to set sail from Cowes together tomorrow morning, making the challenge even more exciting.
The Teams plan to cross the starting line tomorrow, Thursday April 22nd, at 9.00 GMT (11.00 Italian time). Aboard the Italian trimaran, Soldini is sailing with Vittorio Bissaro, Guido Broggi, François Robert, Carlos Hernandez Robayna and Matteo Soldini.
The current multihull record was set in 2015 by Lloyd Thornburg and Brian Thompson aboard MOD 70 Phaedo3: 4 hours, 48 minutes and 57 seconds, with an average speed of 28,66 knots.
