Rolex Giraglia 69th edition

The Yacht Club Italiano, organiser of the 69th edition of the classic offshore regatta, is pleased to announce the opening of registrations and the publication of the Notice of Race for the Rolex Giraglia.

In 2022 the race will return to its original format consisting of the Sanremo-Saint-Tropez leg, three days of coastal races and windward-leeward in French waters, followed by the start of the long race, scheduled for Wednesday 15 June: a 241-nautical mile course starting from Saint-Tropez, rounding the Giraglia rock and finishing in Genoa.

The Rolex Giraglia 2022 will set off on Friday 10 June from Sanremo, with a picturesque departure on the stroke of midnight for the Sanremo-Saint-Tropez leg, covering around 60 miles and representing the traditional prologue to the Rolex Giraglia week.

Friday 10 and Saturday 11 will be dedicated to welcome and registration procedures in Saint-Tropez, with the second act of the regatta kicking off on Sunday 12 June at 11 a.m. in the form of the first inshore race on the beautiful regatta course in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Racing will continue through Tuesday 14 June. The French portion of the Giraglia will culminate with the much-awaited Rolex Crew Party on Tuesday evening, before the long race sets sail at midday on Wednesday 15 June. The week of racing will end on Saturday 18 June with the awards ceremony for the Rolex Giraglia taking place at the headquarters of the Yacht Club Italiano in Genoa.

Rolex Giraglia

The Giraglia was created in 1953 as a 241-nautical mile offshore race. It has grown consistently since then, and now includes a feeder race from Sanremo and three days of inshore races in the bay of Saint-Tropez. In 2022 this classic regatta celebrates its 69th anniversary. The Rolex Giraglia is organised by the Yacht Club Italiano with the collaboration of the Yacht Club Sanremo and the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez. With the support of: Yacht Club de France, Union Nationale pour la Course au Large (UNCL), International Maxi Association (IMA), City of Saint-Tropez, City of Genoa and City of Sanremo.

The Giraglia race is valid as a leg of the IRC-UNCL Mediterranean Championship and is part of the IMA 2022 Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge.

Rolex has been the title partner of the Rolex Giraglia since 1998 and this year celebrates 25 years of collaboration with the Yacht Club Italiano.
